Winter in the West

Winter.  It's the time of the year when snow covers the land and you can hear the children laughing from a mile away.  On any given day, school could be cancelled and one could spend the entire day outside getting frostbite instead of listening to nagging teachers.  Winter is a glorious time indeed.

Some places have a much different Winter than others though.  While most of the country is covered in snow and freezing temperatures, there is one place where Winter can hardly get its icy fingers on.  That place, is The West.

For those of us out West, Winter is not the joyous snow fest of the rest of the nation.  Winter is a time of gloomy days and pouring rain.  For us, there are no snowmen, no cancelled school days.  For us there is but muddy puddles and dead leaves.  In the West there is a whole new definition of "a cold day".  While the rest of the country is freezing to death, we complain when it drops to the arctic temperature of 35 degrees Fahrenheit.  Winter is just not the same in the west.

That would not stop us.  Oh no!  For this Winter, Matt and I set out to have a Winter just like any other.  One filled with all those wondrous activities you think of when you hear the word "Winter".

Suiting Up

We prepared for many a minutes for our expedition into Winter.  Jackets, sweatshirts, and of course jeans, the snow pants of the West, were all integrated into our attire.  Matt laced up his boots while I attempted to put on my hat.

They are complicated

We were ready.  Ready for what we did not know.  We only knew, that we were ready for what we did not know.  We just knew it.
